The party members are up early to start on the now routine preparations for a noon departure.
As usual, it’s the low passengers who are first to arrive. Three of them are life support engineers from Mertactor who are booked all the way through to their home world, returning home now that their twelve month’s contract is up. In addition to them is Harken, a young polymers broker from Glisten who is heading to Overnale to try and make his first deal. Sally is a young and naive humanitarian worker who is excited to be heading to the cold north of Overnale to provide medical attention to the poor reindeer herders.
After a welcome drink and a quick chat, Will settles them all into their berths without incident.
Next to arrive are Nigel and his wife Jenny who come together with their butler, Harold, who is taking the only middle passage on this journey. Over the welcome drinks, Nigel explains that he is a baronet from the country of Melorn, returning after a spell at the embassy on Gro’un.
Next to arrive is Ben Hammerstein, a salesman of musical instruments from Glisten, who is trying to sell his wares on Overnale.
Last of the passengers is Jim Paton, who works for TAS and is travelling on a voucher. He is heading over to Overnale to take over the running of the bureau there.
They seem to be a decent bunch and Autumn is happy with them all. She is especially happy that the Baronet and his wife have their own butler with them as it should give her less work to do.
With all of the passengers onboard in plenty of time, Autumn closes the door and checks with Max that all of the cargo is loaded. Once he has confirmed that the hold is closed and secured, Autumn tells the others that they are now ready for departure.
The party members excuse themselves from schmoozing with the passengers, leaving them in the hands of Autumn, Max and Taeva while Grim heads for engineering and Will, Arvor and Jie head for the bridge.
Exactly at noon, the Princess pulls away from its berth and starts to make its way for one final time through the tricky asteroid belt on its way to jump distance. After a couple of hours they are free of the belt and, another hour after that, Jie confirms to Will that they are now at safe jump distance. Will hits the big red button and Unguin’s Princess slips safely into jump.
